Injuries in sport is a website created to create awareness about injuries and possible ways to prevent and treat them.
WHAT ARE THE 10 MOST COMMON SPORT INJURIES?
10. Hip Flexor Strain - The muscle at the upper front of the hip. Injury caused by over stretching by activities such as sprinting or running on an incline.

9. ACL tear/sprain - The stabilising ligament in the knee. Most commonly obtained by pivoting or changing direction quickly.

8. Concussion - Also known as an injury to the brain. Caused by contact to the head, causing the brain to jar or shake.

7. Groin strain - The muscle that pulls the legs together. Injured by quick sid-to-side movements or due to a lack of flexibility

6. Shin splints - Commonly affects the tibia and is most common in football players, early in the season when a player increases mileage too quickly.

5. Sciatica - Back pain running down to the leg. Commonly affects athletes who a mostly in a forward posture position, such as cyclists.

4. Hamstring strain - Hamstrings are a naturally tight muscle, athletes can be susceptible to a hamstring strain when practising poor stretching techniques or a lack of stretching

3. Tennis or golf elbow - Inflammation of the tendons in the elbow due to overuse in sports such as tennis and golf

2. Shoulder injuries - The weakest joint in the body, injuries can be caused by lack or strength, stability and flexibilty

1. Patellofemoral Syndrome - Most common knee injury. Most commonly caused by someone falling onto the person's knees causing instability in the two major muscles that keep proper tracking of the patella.
